摘要:高频器件和系统的建模与优化方法在信息技术与通信系统领域是非常重要的课题。电路规模和设计复杂性的增大,再加上严格的设计规范和较短的设计周期,对设计工具的速度、精度和自动性要求越来越高。近十几年来,神经网络和空间映射技术在微波设计领域的应用为建模和计算机辅助设计方法在速度和精度方面带来新的优势。该技术已经被应用在微带线、共面波导和基片集成波导电路、嵌入式无源器件、印刷天线、半导体器件、滤波器、放大器等方面,促进了用于优化、统计设计、全局建模和计算电磁学的新的CAD技术发展。基于知识型神经网络、空间映射等先进的微波CAD技术快速发展起来。这些技术把等效电路模型、电磁仿真、行为建模、神经网络和空间映射优化算法联系起来,为快速、精确地设计出高频器件和系统提供了可能。

本次报告主要介绍在这些新兴研究方向上的最新进展和射频器件电路与系统自动建模和设计的方法。报告内容包括该领域基本概念、方法、工业应用和未来发展趋势。

 

报告人简介:张齐军教授于1982年取得南京理工大学学士学位,1987年取得加拿大麦克马斯特大学博士学位,1990年加入加拿大卡尔顿大学电子系,并工作至今。张教授在高频电子器件的建模和优化方面进行了开拓性和权威性的工作,共发表260余篇论文。张教授编著了Neural Networks for RF and Microwave Design一书张教授担任IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniquesthe International Journal of Numerical Modeling期刊编辑,the International Journal of RF and Microwave CAE的副主编,the IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic and Multiphysics Modeling and Optimization (NEMO)的主席。张教授于2006年成为Fellow of IEEE2015年当选加拿大工程院院士。

 

 

Title: Advances in Modeling and Optimization for High-Frequency Electronic Design

Abstract:Modeling and optimization of high-frequency/high-speed electronic devices and systems are important for achieving next generation information technology and communication systems. Increasing circuit size and design complexity, coupled with stringent design specifications and shorter design cycles, demand tools that are faster, more accurate and automated than possible today. Recent applications of neural networks and space mapping for microwave design lead to new modeling and Computer-aided Design (CAD) with potential advantages in both speed and accuracy. Applications are being made in modeling and design of microstrip, CPW and SIW circuits, multilayer interconects, embedded passives, printed antennas, LTCC circuits, semiconductor devices, measurement standards, filters, amplifiers, mixers and so on. New CAD methods for optimization, statistical design, global modeling, and computational electromagnetics exploiting computational intelligence concepts are being developed. Advanced microwave CAD methodologies such as cognition-driven design, knowledge-based neural networks, and space mapping are being developed. This leads to new opportunities combining equivalent circuit/empirical models, EM/physics simulation, behavioral modeling, neural network and space mapping optimization algorithms for fast and accurate design of high-frequency components and systems.

This talk presents an overview of the state of the art in these emerging directions. The presentations highlight implementable methodologies for automated modeling and design of RF/microwave components, circuits and systems. The talk covers fundamental concepts and methodologies, industrial applications, and future trends in R&D.

 

About the Speaker: Q.J. Zhang received the B.Eng. degree from the Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China in 1982, and the Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering from McMasterUniversity, Hamilton, Canada, in 1987. He joined the Department of Electronics, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada in 1990 where he is presently a Professor. He is also an adjunct professor with the School of Electronic Information Engineering, Tianjin University, Tianjin, China. His research interests are modeling, optimization and neural networks for high-speed/high-frequency electronic design, and has over 260 publications in the area. He is an author of the book Neural Networks for RF and Microwave Design (Boston: Artech House, 2000), and a coeditor of Modeling and Simulation of High-Speed VLSI Interconnects (Boston: Kluwer, 1994). Dr. Zhang is on the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, and the International Journal of Numerical Modeling. He is an Associate Editor for the International Journal of RF and Microwave CAE. He is a member of the Technical Committee on CAD of the IEEE MTT Society. He was the General Chair of the IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic and Multiphysics Modeling and Optimization (NEMO) held in Ottawa, Canada August 2015. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
